Blended Families

“Family….where life begins and love never ends.”

I thought today’s blog would be a fun get to know me kind of blog. For those that know me personally know that my parents were divorced when I was younger and now they are friends.

Sounds pretty normal right, a lot of divorced parents are friendly for the sake of their children but I’ve been blessed beyond words could ever describe. When my parents got divorced they said they were better as friends, most parents say that while getting divorced but for me it was true.

My mom and my stepdad were married in January of 2007 and just celebrated 10 years of marriage, it’s crazy to think my stepdad has been in our lives for that long. My dad and my stepmom were married in August of 2013, that was the day we officially became a blended family. I was lucky to get three stepsisters- which was SOOOOO exciting to me since I always wanted sisters.

A lot of people think of blended families as step-parents and step-siblings but to me I think of my blended family as a whole. I love that some weekends we could it with all of my parents and all of my siblings.

SnapChat fun with my mom and stepmom.

We are a very unique family that I would not change for the world! Having a unique family means that I should scream it from the roof tops and hopefully teach other families that it is okay to not be by the books. Trust me, my life may sound like a fairy tale but it definitely took some time to get here. This is just proof that anything is possible.

I don’t think I could every thank my stepmom and my stepdad enough for accepting my brother and I into their families. Blended families are so much more than visiting every other month, I feel like I’m a part of their families when it comes to birthdays or holidays or even regular Sunday dinners.

My stepdad never had children of his own so when he met my mom he went from childless to have two kids. I can’t imagine what went through his mind when he realized that I had just become a teenager (my poor family) and my brother was his own kind of character. One thing about my stepdad is that he always accepted us from day one.

The person I feel bad for the most was Daniel, most guys have it easy and only have to ask permission from one dad to marry their daughter, Daniel had two dads and two moms. (My moms are very protective!) I’m happy to report he survived and we are going on three years of marriage!

All in all I have to brag that I am beyond blessed with the life the Lord has blessed me with. Sometimes the holidays are stressful since there are so many families to visit but honestly I would change the fact that my parents got divorced. I love my GIANT family more than words could ever describe.

Here’s to my big family, may we always love one another and be there for one another. I love each and everyone one of you and the memories we have made in this journey as a blended family.

Our Weekend Fun!

Happy Tuesday!

I enjoyed writing about our weekend last week so I thought I’d do it again! This weekend was so fun and definitely made up for a HORRIBLY long Stressful week!

For all Disney fans I’m sure you were busy this weekend watching the long-awaited Beauty and The Beast! ❤ ❤ ❤ I don’t know about you but I cried, it was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to watch it again! NO SPOILERS HERE! ( Even though I really really really want to talk about the movie!)

Friday night started with Beauty and the Beast  at Flix Brewhouse- for anyone that hasn’t been there you must go! Great food and drinks while you watch the movie!! I had a Watermelon Cider that was delicious and a chicken quesadilla that melted in your mouth!

Saturday started with dreaming/looking at RVs and Campers, I love camping but I’m more of a Glamping kind of person. My requests for camping are working toilets and comfortable beds! Of course, we aren’t planning on buying a camper anytime soon but it is fun to look at them and dream of camping in the really expensive ones! Hey, you never know when you’ll need a fireplace and a bar while camping??

Our next stop was Boxing Bear, for anyone that knows my family knows we enjoy brewery hopping and after four years of drinking I’m finally getting used to beer. My parents are so proud….I’m only joking! There is also a brand new brewery that just opened in Albuquerque so of course we had to go test it next, Steel Bender Brewyard. It’s still fairly new so there were a lot of people there but it was very spacious and fun for all ages! I personally didn’t try any new beer but from what I hear the beer was good! After multiple stops Saturday ended with a fun Snapchat session with my mom and stepmom. (Look for a fun blog later this week)

Sunday Funday is always my favorite, most times it is my day to do absolutely nothing but this Sunday was different! After a too much fun kind of Saturday night I woke slow and groggy and was taken outside to the sun and heat!! 😦 …… really wasn’t that bad!

The whole family went out to shoot guns, we called it Zombie Apocalypse Training!  It had been a long time since I shot guns so it was fun to get the entire blended family out there. My little sisters even rocked the guns and I can’t forget that both my moms shot also!

We ended the night with a fun slumber party with my little sisters. Daniel decided he wanted to make the popular Pinterest Cookie Ice Cream Cups……

Yeah, that didn’t work so well. Let’s just say we spent the next 30 minutes fanning smoke out of the house but everyone was safe and we still got some yummy cookies to eat. We ended the evening with a fun indoor movie on the projector, I believe everyone is counting down to the first outdoor summer movie session!! (More to come on that later)

After everything we did this weekend I can say it was very eventful and fun! Daniel and I definitely needed a weekend to keep ourselves busy! Lets just say we started the week exhausted! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and hope you have a great week!

Martha Stewart Who??

Hi Guys!

Lately I’ve been on this cleaning spree, I feel like our house is so cluttered and it’s driving me crazy! Does anyone go through Pinterest sprees of organization pins?? I sure do! I do it with workout pins also, LOL and we know where those go! Nowhere!

Well, I finally finished cleaning majority of the house and still have little places to clean but I feel so much better now that there aren’t piles everywhere! But the next thing on my list is to start cooking more, I’ve been working at home for quite some time and I realized that I didn’t appreciate the 3 times to cook at home as much as I should have.

I always wanted to be the next Martha Stewart until I realized I’m only organized sometimes and I can only cook like 5 meals. Also, I haven’t been to jail so I may need a new mentor LOL!

I decided that I want to learn more recipes and TRY to stay organized longer than one week. Let’s hope I can do it! If anyone has any recipes or tips they’d love to share I would love to hear!

Let’s hope for some good meals and a clean house! Happy Spring Cleaning to everyone!!

Week of Memories

Hey guys! Sorry I didn’t write as much as I wanted to this week!

This week has been very eventful and exhausting!! The good part….it flew by…..but so did the weekend! ☹️

I can’t believe it’s already Sunday and to make it worse, Daylight Savings Time…..I like my sleep too much for this day. Anything that makes me lose sleep isn’t a friend of mine!

This weekend was a blast! We got to start our weekend with a trip to the zoo. Daniel and I took our goddaughter and her brother, we love spending time with them!! The animals were awake and we got to see them eat!

For those that know me, know I’m OBSESSED with photo booths. They’re memories and I love memories!

Daniel and I also try to make a habit of going on at least one date during the week, well since life has gotten crazy lately we’ve been slacking on dates. We went on a double date with our best friends! It was a much needed dinner, cocktails and ice cream!

Our double date nights consist of dinner and COLDSTONE oh and Snapchat of course!

I’ve also been Spring Cleaning!! Yuck! 🤢😫 Thankfully, I cleaned out everything not so long ago so cleaning hasn’t been that bad.

My biggest accomplishment this week was our guestroom!! After living in our home for almost two years I finally finished my dream guestroom. I wanted a room that had lots of Disney stuff but since it’s the guest room I thought Traveling would be a fun theme also. So….we got a Disney travel themed guestroom.

Even though this week was busy and a little chaotic it was a great week in my book! Now I better get back to cleaning the rest of the house!!

The giant map is a pin map to show our adventures and was Daniel’s first anniversary present. All the pictures are adventures we’ve been on.

Missing Vacation!

Vacations……they are our weakness! Offer me a beach or Vegas or DISNEY…..sold, I’m going!

Do you ever have those days where you are missing vacation like it was a person? Well, today is one of those days! Last night I dreamed about the beach and all day I’ve thought about Disney World so to say the least I’m missing vacation.

One thing I try to remember about life is that I would rather make great memories and not buy the latest phone or the latest fashion trend. We have gone on cruises, road trips and camping trips (yes, I think it’s traveling) but I do have to say that I can’t choose one type of vacation as my favorite. Traveling is my favorite.

I am so in love with traveling that I have a bucket-list full of places to travel, Daniel and I started traveling when we got together and ever since then it’s something that we love to do. There are so many places we hope to see one day and we still plan on visiting our favorites, Florida, Grand Turk, etc.

What are some of your favorite vacation memories? Or some of your favorite locations?

New Beginnings

Has anyone ever set a list of New Year’s resolutions and one month in you give them up completely?

Well, that’s me! I did that every single year and this year I felt like I needed a change. Of course, I still told myself I want to lose weight and eat better but I decided to take a big leap instead. My 2017 resolution was to stop letting fear rule my life.

For those that know me personally know that “fear” is a frequently used word in my vocabulary. When I chose my resolution I had this one scripture in front of me and I knew what God wanted me to do. “Don’t be afraid. Only Believe.” Mark 5:36

I’m happy to report that I’ve taken two big steps toward my resolution, I joined a bible study and I started going to the gym by myself. Those two things were huge for me, I can’t lie, I did have doubts and still question going everyday but I can gladly report that I’m still going.

Lucky for me the bible study I joined is about the Sabbath and enjoying the margin you place in your life. This bible study is called “Breathe” by Priscilla Shirer and it is amazing, I honestly needed this study more than anything.

Also, to help on my new journey one of my friends gave me a great book called Present over Perfect  by Shauna Niequist. This book helps me get over the guilt of saying “no” and helps me understand that slow is better. For anyone that needs help with trusting God and living day by day you need this book!

I’m so lucky to have the friends and family that have supported me in this journey of living my life differently. This blog is also a part of my resolution, fear is what caused me to stop writing, I was afraid people were judging me or that I sounded dumb, but no longer am I going to pretend that I don’t like blogging.

I’m so happy I’m back to blogging and I plan to be real with my followers about my failures and my successes, I hope you enjoy! Thank you for reading my blog, you have no idea how much it means to me!
